here a sheep, there a sheep

May 24, 2008

Just outside my window, someone is playing “Old MacDonald Had a Farm” on a harmonica. Life doesn’t get any better than this.

(Although I do wish the person were instead playing a song that doesn’t instill in children the notion that America is dotted with nice, sweet family farms where animals never get hurt or die. “Giant Corporation Had a Factory Farm that Treated Its Animals Inhumanely” would be a more accurate song. I’m just sayin’.)

WHen you add EE-II-EE-II-OOOO it makes a v-e-r-y long line that way. ALthough the message is admirable, I agree.

Pepek, what exactly is the EE-II-EE-II-OO supposed to represent, anyway? Is it an animal sound or just filler because someone couldn’t think of any lyrics to fill the space?

CB, you can always be flippant and silly here. No worries.

Maybe it’s, like, calling pigs…in which case the lyrics ought to be Old McDonald had a hog….right?

Yeah, I guess hog just didn’t make it through the PR folks ~ children like dogs so much more. ;)

OK, now I have the REAL story. I asked 5 yr old Jacob what does E-I-E-I-O mean. He says it “means your back hurts!” And I’m alright with this, it works for me.

    E-I-E-I-O!

Got something to say?
